Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec provincial police force continue to investigate the death of an Inukjuak woman, 41, which occurred March 25 or March 26 in the Hudson Bay community.
Responding a call shortly before 1 a.m. on March 26, members of the Kativik Regional Police Force in Inukjuak found the body of the woman in an Inukjuak residence, said Sgt. Marie-Josée Ouellet, spokesperson for the SQ, which is called in to investigate serious crimes in Nunavik.
The SQ’s major crimes investigators then flew to Inukjuak to investigate the circumstances around the woman’s death, Ouellet said.
They spoke to a boy, 16, as a person of interest in connection with the woman’s death.
More information on the investigation into the woman’s death is expected later March 27.
