ITC looks to improve health services
The Inuit Tapirisat of Canada is joining forces with Health Canada to improve the country’s health services to Inuit.
Roda Grey of the ITC is a member of Health Canada’s health renewal committee — a new initiative to come up with ways for Inuit to get better access to health services and to have more control over those services.
“To me, it’s exciting. It’s the first time that Inuit have asked to be involved in something like this,” Grey said.
Later this year ITC hopes to consult with Inuit throughout Canada on what programs are needed to deal specifically with Inuit needs, or what other improvements should be made to the health care system.
The health renewal committee is also reviewing health programs for First Nations groups.
